ACOUSTICS FOR HOME CINEMA ROOMS & THEATERS

For premium Home cinema equipment and systems, the room acoustics as well as a certain level of sound isolation play a crucial part in the desired cinema and music experience.

In view of the same, I have listed below the requirements and suggestions pre-installation for theater systems:

  • Wall cladding on front and rear wall. Suggestion: Gypsum sheet or gypsum tiles on aluminium/wooden frame (about 2.5” from wall) covered by cloth or rug of your choice. Gap filled with glass wool/rock wool.
  • Cladding on side walls, parts of the wall where surround speakers are located. Suggestion: Same as above or wooden perforated panel filled with glass/rock wool or woodwoolboard
  • False ceiling of gypsum sheet or gypsum tiles with a thick layer of glass wool on top.
  • Double glazing of all glass windows (airtight)
  • Double walling of door. 18mm ply on both sides with about an inch of glass wool in between. This is mainly for sound isolation and bass trapping.
  • Automatic dropdown seal for door (37dB acoustic insulation along with air/dust/insect restriction)
  • Heavy upholstery for all windows.
  • Carpeting or wooden flooring for low frequency absorption and resonance reduction.
  • Carpeting or wooden flooring for low frequency absorption and resonance reduction. Sound Absorption System (S.A.S.) below the wooden flooring This high-tech coating is only 0.3 mm thick and is made of a special thermoplastic material that helps to convert sound energy into heat energy. Sound produced from the flooring can be reduced by up to 10 decibels through use of this technology, which equates to a 50% reduction. No need for additional sound-dampening layers, such as Noppa foam
